a presenter talking thru' a Venn diagram |
If you know what the acronym stands for it would indicate that you were either a part of the workshop we had for the past two days or that you are associated with someone who was on the course. I am one of the course designers who wore a dual hat at the workshop. I was both technical assistant and participant. One drawback is that I hardly ever appear in pictures so I thought of showing you this one on the left. The course is about Community, Self & Identity as it relates to the Higher Education sector. We had to draw community maps, share our backgrounds through drawings and discussion and while it all sounds like a lot of fun, it was also hard work. After these two days I feel completely exhausted. The discussions for me were fruitful and I believe that more will be delved into as the course progresses. The spirit in which the discussions took place was commendable and I look forward to the next workshop. Working with such an experienced group of researchers helped to demystify a lot of what happens behind the scenes to design a course and just thinking of it now I wish that we had captured that. As part of the design team I was aware of the tension between what would work for the participants of the course and what it is that we needed as research data. Back at the office today...
